A: Wanderer's Rest is uniquely designed to flex to your group's exact size so you only book the space you actually need. You can reserve our home in one of three custom configurations: The Entire Property (7 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, sleeping up to 21 guests), the Main & Upper Levels (5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, sleeping up to 14 guests), or the Garden Level Suite (2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeping up to 7 guests). Our booking system automatically blocks out the other configurations the moment you reserve your dates. This ensures you will never share the property with other travelers. Occasionally, if only one portion of the home is booked, we may utilize the unbooked unit for owner operations. However, we do not use the guest parking area, ensuring your stay remains exceptionally private, peaceful, and uninterrupted!

A: When booking directly on our website, payments are processed securely. We require a down payment to secure your dates, with the remaining balance due prior to your arrival. A temporary security deposit hold is placed on your card and automatically released after check-out, pending a property inspection.

For solo business travelers, traveling nurses, or smaller consulting teams, our private 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom Garden Level Suite offers a fully self-contained, high-end hotel alternative featuring a full kitchen, dedicated laundry, and a separate entrance.

A: Yes, we warmly welcome mid-term stays! Whether you are a clinician on a contract, a relocating executive family, or an engineer on temporary assignment, we provide a seamless "home away from home." Our property features high-speed Wi-Fi, dedicated workspaces, fully equipped kitchens, and private parking. Q: What are the check-in and check-out times?

A: Standard check-in is at 4:00 PM and check-out is at 10:00 AM. This allows our professional cleaning team enough time to thoroughly prepare the home for our next guests. Detailed keyless entry codes and check-in instructions will be sent automatically prior to your arrival.

Q: Can I request an early check-in or a late check-out?

A: Because we often host large groups with back-to-back bookings, our professional cleaning team needs every minute of our standard window (10:00 AM check-out to 4:00 PM check-in) to make the home spotless. While we cannot guarantee early arrivals or late departures, you are welcome to reach out a day or two before your stay, and we will do our best to accommodate you if our calendar permits.

Q: Is there dedicated parking on-site?

A: Yes! We have private, off-street parking available on our parking lot located behind the house. There is room for four vehicles. Additionally, there may be street parking available.

Q: Do you have secure storage for bicycles and outdoor gear?

A: Absolutely. Knowing how world-class the Winona Lake trail system is, we provide secure, dry spaces on-site to store your bikes and outdoor gear during your stay, so you never have to worry about your equipment.

Q: Does the house have "real beds" or air mattresses?

A: We pride ourselves on absolute guest comfort! You will never find cheap, leaking air mattresses at Wanderer’s Rest. Our main and upper levels feature premium, high-quality mattresses, including a custom bunk room that utilizes a convenient twin trundle as its 6th sleeping spot.

For our Garden Level Suite, the 6th and 7th sleeping spots feature our premium Overnight Sofa "Dean" Sectional. This is not your average sleeper sofa; it features a commercial-grade, heavy-duty support mechanism engineered specifically to eliminate the uncomfortable "bar-in-your-back" feeling of traditional fold-outs. Additionally, it is equipped with a high-end Visco Gel Mattress, combining body-contouring pressure relief with cooling gel-infused memory foam so your guests sleep cool and incredibly comfortable.

Q: How well-stocked are the kitchens for cooking for large groups?

A: Very! We know how important family meals are. Our kitchens are fully stocked with high-quality cookware, bakeware, dinnerware, servingware, utensils, and essential small appliances (including coffee makers, toasters, blenders, air fryers, slow cookers and hand mixers). You'll have everything you need to easily prep and host large group dinners.


House Policies & Local Info FAQs

Q: Are you a dog-friendly property?

A: Yes, we love hosting four-legged family members! We welcome up to 2 well-behaved dogs to join your stay for a standard, non-refundable pet fee. To protect our beautiful property and respect future guests, we simply ask that you let us know your dog's size and breed when booking. Please note that pets are strictly prohibited from all beds and upholstered furniture, must be crated if left unattended in the home, and must be leashed anytime they are outside our wonderful fenced backyard.

Q: Can we host parties, weddings, or large gatherings at the house?

A: While our home is the perfect lodging base for bridal parties, family reunions, and retreats, we do not permit unapproved parties, large outside gatherings, or events that exceed our maximum registered guest limits. Please reach out to us directly if you have questions about coordinating lodging for your local event.

Q: Is there a fire pit, and do you provide firewood?

A: Yes, we have a wonderful outdoor fire pit area for you to enjoy! While we do not guarantee a constant supply of firewood on-site, local firewood bundles can be easily purchased just minutes away in town. We kindly ask that all fires are fully supervised and completely extinguished before you go inside.

Q: How close is the property to the Village at Winona and Grace College?

A: We are exceptionally well-located! Wanderer’s Rest is just a scenic 5-minute walk to the shops, artisan boutiques, public beaches, and dining in the historic Village at Winona, as well as the Grace College campus.
